Hello!

Greetings from Dallas!

We’ve been here about two months now and I finally got around to starting our blog. I know some of you probably think we’ve been taken hostage by Bush-lovers, but I assure you that our liberal “asses” are just fine. (Get it? Like a donkey!)

Let me answer a few questions I know you would probably ask. YES, we are doing great! YES, we love our jobs! YES, we are settled in. NO, we have not sold our house in Florida. NO, we don’t think we ever will and cry about it every night.

What have we been doing?

Well, Garrett still wants a motorcycle, so a couple weekends ago we went to the 2009 Harley Davidson Truck Show in Garland, TX so he could test-drive some Harleys and see what he liked. It was a blast! They had a band, booths and were even grilling out. As much as I’ve been against him getting a motorcycle, for some reason I think he looks really cute on one, so I’m starting to warm up to the idea. The suburb we live in would actually be a great place for us to ride around since it’s not crowded and nice and scenic.

This past weekend, Garrett went to Atlanta to see his step-sister get married. It was perfect timing for me, because Saturday was the 2009 Knit-Out that one of the local knitting organizations holds. It was AWESOME! There were door prizes, classes, and of course a bunch of people just sitting around knitting.

I didn’t win anything, but I met these two great ladies named Patti and Betty that gave me the low-down on the local yarn stores and knitting groups. I ended up joining the Dallas Hand Knitters Guild because a lot of the local yarn stores give a 10% discount to members. I also joined the Dallas Chapter for Stitch & Bitch, which meets every other Sunday afternoon in South Dallas. When I told Garrett his eyes got really big and he whispered “video game time.”

However, I doubt I’ll be able to attend very often until after football season. Not big sports fans before, living in a city with an NFL team (especially on as awesome as the Cowboys) has made us avid football watchers. If our schedules weren’t so crazy, we’d probably buy some tickets and go tailgating, but we never know when we’re going to be out of town.

Well, that’s it for now! Thanks for tuning in.

Love,

Michaela
