Dismal

It’s a dismal Monday here in Dallas. Storms with pea-sized hail rolled through this morning and there’s a tornado watch for most of the day. The 7-day forecast even has rain on it every day.

Mornings like this seem to put everyone in a funk. It was dismal over the weekend, too, but when it’s on the weekend it doesn’t seem that bad because you can snuggle up in your PJs and stay in doors. When you have to get up, put on your work clothes, and head out the door it’s an entirely different story.

We didn’t do too much this weekend. We decided to take it easy since Garrett’s mom and brother were in town last weekend, and next weekend Garrett will be out of town for a friend’s wedding. Plus, I had to work last night and will work again tonight for a big commercial realtor’s summit that’s in town.

We did hold a Gremlins and Pirates of the Caribbean marathon this weekend, though, which was pretty awesome. That Gizmo is so cute! (And so is Johnny Depp.)

Working last night wasn’t bad. It was the opening reception for the summit, which was held at the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA to locals) with the King Tut exhibit. I’ve been wanting to see the exhibit since it opened shortly after we moved here, but tickets were a little pricey for me --- especially since I knew Garrett wouldn’t get nearly as much of a thrill as I would from it. So when I found out I’d get to see it for free at this event I was pumped! It was great!

This past Thursday, I went with a group of girls to see a play at our local private university called “I love you, you’re perfect, now change.” It’s a bunch of short skits and songs about relationships at all their different stages. It was really funny and cute! We had a great time. The kids in it were really talented and had amazing voices. And of course, Garrett was excited to have a night to play video games all to himself (like he doesn’t do that while I’m there, or something). J

On the plate for this week: work and get Garrett ready to go out of town.
