You're on my Radar!

Hello Family & Friends!

It is dreary today in Dallas. We are actually under an “ice storm warning.” Here’s something I’m not used to seeing:

There’s PINK on our radar! Being from Florida, I’m used to seeing green, sometimes yellow during a hurricane, but pink is another story all together. Pink means “freezing rain,” which by the way is different from snow or sleet. Freezing rain is when the rain falls in liquid form and the ground is so cold it freezes on contact. Or at least that’s what the weatherman said this morning while I was gazelling in the other room. (Around the time Rowdy decided it was too cold to do his normal business outside.)

Works been busy for us, so weekends have been so NOT busy to make up for it. We watched six movies this past weekend so we wouldn’t have to do anything. Saturday was the Starship Troopers marathon and Sunday was the Underworld marathon. We watched the newest one, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (that’s nerd for werewolf) in the theater, and then went home and watched the other two. I know you’re dying to know, so I’ll tell you – YES, it was awesome!

Last week I was in Tempe, Arizona for a few days taking an Economic Development course for my certification. I take another one next month in Baltimore and then I’ll be done with my courses! I still have to sit for the exam in October, though. I hear that hardly anyone actually passes it the first time.

Tempe was pretty cool. It’s definitely a college town, so there’s this cool downtown area next to the campus called the Mill Avenue District that has lots of bars, shops and restaurants. My favorite was My Big Fat Greek Restaurant, which was recommended by a co-worker. It was so good!!

I was staying right off the main strip, so I was able to walk almost everywhere. I did manage to hitch a ride on the hotel’s airport shuttle to a local yarn store, though! Overall it was a fun trip…other than missing my plane out there and being on standby for four hours. Oh well! I caught an earlier flight on the way home so I guess that sort-of makes up for it.

Have a great week!
