Happy Birthday Garrett!

Hello!

We’ve had an eventful weekend and week so far! On Saturday morning, Garrett’s motorcycle was delivered to the house. It’s so pretty!

He drove it around a little while and then we took it to Country Day on the Hill, which is our local fall festival.

There, we saw the Cedar Hill museum, which was wagon…
(Because that's how we roll here)

And the Chicken Mobile, which was from Babe’s chicken.

We also saw the biggest dog either one of use has ever seen in our entire lives! It was like a small pony. He was really sweet, though! So we got him to add to our collection. (Just kidding, mom.)
That evening Garrett’s mom got into town for his birthday. On Sunday, we took her to the 6th Floor Museum, which is on the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository where Lee Harvey Oswald was when he shot JFK. It overlooks the Grassy Noll and has displays and videos of the JFK presidency and his assassination.

If you look closely at the picture above, you'll see a little dot in the middle of the road (which is actually an X) where the second shot hit JFK and killed him. It was a really interesting museum and done very well.

(Below is me and Julie next to the Grassy Noll.)

That evening Garrett’s brother got in town and we went out to dinner for Garrett’s birthday. On Monday, we just played around Dallas and saw a movie (where I lost my debit card).

Yesterday, Garrett took his mom and brother to Austin to see the state capital.

I went to the Dallas Regional Chamber’s Women in Business Conference. It was so good! Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York spoke and I got to meet her afterward and have her sign my books. She and all the other women that spoke were incredible! There were over 2,000 women at the conference and it was a really cool experience.

Julie and Alex left for Panama City this morning, so our fun-filled long weekend has come to an end and we’re both back to work like normal…or I guess as normal as it gets for us.

Until next time…

Love,

Michaela

OMG! I have always loved Fergie (as in the Duchess of York, not the lead singer for The Black Eyed Peas). I thought she was a breath of fresh, fun air to the stuff royal family and its a shame they had to dis her like they did. She is the epitome of showing how a woman can pull herself up by her bootstraps and get back on top of her game no matter what gets thrown at her. I've always thought she was lovely even when they used to call her "the duchess of pork".

She was really great! She talked about going back and meeting the reporter that came up with the headline "Duchess of Pork" and how he was this little old, round, bald man that's only claim to fame was that headline. It made her realize that you can't let what others say get to you, especially the media.
